Privacy at Chapter Cay

Effective date: September 21, 2026

Controller/business identity and contact: Wesley Campbell trading as Chapter Cay, East Alexandria Blvd, Nassau, Bahamas; hello@chaptercay.com. This email also receives privacy and accessibility requests.

Chapter Cay uses personal information to provide accounts, memberships, purchases, story access, support, security, and required business records.

Information we may collect

  • Account details such as name, email address, and password-protected account identifiers.
  • Checkout and order details such as billing information, purchased products, transaction references, and subscription status.
  • Support messages and any information the customer chooses to include.
  • Basic technical and security information such as browser, device, IP address, cookies, and activity needed to operate and protect the site.

Service providers and payments

The site is hosted by Hostinger, which provides hosting, CDN, DNS, server and security logging, database and file storage, backups, and transactional email. Its handling of hosted information is described in the Hostinger Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum.

The site uses self-hosted WordPress with WooCommerce, WooCommerce Subscriptions, and WooCommerce Memberships to store account, order, subscription, membership, and story-access records. If Chapter Cay later enables an optional Woo or WooCommerce.com service that changes the data flow, this policy will be updated first. Automattic’s service practices are described in its Privacy Policy.

Payments are processed through PayPal. Chapter Cay does not store full payment credentials. PayPal receives information needed to authorize, secure, manage, or refund a transaction and acts independently under the PayPal Privacy Statement.

Chapter Cay uses Google reCAPTCHA on checkout to help prevent automated fraud and abuse. When reCAPTCHA runs, technical and interaction information such as IP address, browser and device information, necessary cookies or similar identifiers, and checkout interaction signals may be sent to Google for risk analysis. Google processes this information on Chapter Cay’s instructions to provide and maintain reCAPTCHA and its security, threat detection, protection, and response capabilities. Chapter Cay does not use reCAPTCHA for marketing analytics or personalized advertising. reCAPTCHA may set the necessary _GRECAPTCHA cookie and may ask a customer to complete a challenge when an interaction appears suspicious.

Chapter Cay is the controller of the customer information processed through reCAPTCHA, and Google acts as a processor for that service. Google and its subprocessors may process this security information outside The Bahamas under the applicable Google Cloud terms and data-processing commitments. Questions or privacy requests may be sent to hello@chaptercay.com.

Cookies and analytics

Chapter Cay does not use advertising pixels, session recording, or marketing analytics at launch. Essential cookies and similar storage may be used for security and fraud prevention, sign-in, account sessions, cart and checkout state, subscriptions, story access, and payment processing. Google reCAPTCHA may set the necessary _GRECAPTCHA risk-analysis cookie when it executes. PayPal may set or use its own essential, security, fraud-prevention, and payment technologies during checkout under its privacy terms.

Retention

Chapter Cay’s operating target is to retain redacted operational and security logs for no longer than 30 days where it controls retention. Site backups follow the active Hostinger plan and are used for recovery; provider-controlled copies may remain until Hostinger’s rolling retention expires. Account and library records are kept while needed to provide the account and permanent purchases. Order, subscription, refund, and accounting records are kept for the period required by applicable Bahamas law and legitimate dispute, fraud-prevention, and accounting needs. PayPal and Hostinger apply their own legally required retention periods. Information no longer needed for these purposes is deleted or anonymized where reasonably possible.

International processing

Hostinger, PayPal, and Google may process information outside The Bahamas. PayPal acts independently for payment processing, while Google processes reCAPTCHA customer data on Chapter Cay’s instructions. Their applicable policies and contractual terms describe their locations, affiliates, safeguards, and subprocessors. Chapter Cay will use only the information and vendors needed to operate the MVP and will review the disclosure before adding another customer-data vendor.

Your privacy choices

The launch is limited to customers in The Bahamas who are at least 18 years old. A customer may email hello@chaptercay.com to request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy help. Chapter Cay may need to verify the requester’s identity and may retain information that applicable law or a valid security, accounting, dispute, or fraud-prevention need requires. Chapter Cay aims to acknowledge requests within two business days.
